Our Team
Our incredible team includes 20 classroom teachers, 6 instructional assistants, 7 specials teachers, 4 preschool teachers, 2 resource teachers, and our nurse, guidance counselor, priests, and support staff. We have teachers who were students here and loved it so much that they returned to teach. We are Saint Leo!

Our School
We are accredited by the Virginia Catholic Education Association (VCEA), have a fully certified preschool program, and 4 differentiated levels of 8th grade Math. We were voted the 2024 Outstanding Employer by Porto Charities, and our diverse community is dedicated to the success of every child.

AcademicsSaint Leo the Great School provides a Catholic education that integrates religious truth and values with life as the focal point of the curriculum. As part of its educational program, Saint Leo School strives for academic excellence, encourages service to others, fosters self-respect and respect for all life, and develops responsible citizens at school and in the community. We partner with our parents in faith, education, and the family. Saint Leo students graduate not just prepared for high school, but for life.
Core courses for all students include Religion, Mathematics, Language Arts (including Reading/Literature, Phonics, Spelling, Vocabulary and Handwriting), Science, Social Studies and Spanish. Encore classes are attended by all students each week and include Art, Music, Physical Education, Computer Technology, and Library.
Saint Leo the Great School offers a one of a kind Middle School math curriculum. We strive to develop a solid foundation for a strong background, from basic level skills to the advanced pathway. We offer four levels of math for 8th graders: 8th grade Math, Algebra, Algebra Honors, and Geometry.
We have implemented a K-8 Lab Learner program to enhance science instruction. All students use Google Chromebooks to increase technology education in the classroom. Active board technology is also present in every classroom for hands-on learning, which improves student’s cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills.
The Saint Leo the Great curriculum follows the guidelines set forth by the Arlington Diocese Office of Catholic Schools.
